Social Security

The Texas Republican Party "supports an orderly transition to a system of private pensions based on the concept of individual retirement accounts and gradually phasing out the Social Security tax.

The Texas Democratic Party "believes we must keep the promise of Social Security solid and certain for those who worked and contributed to the system all their lives. Texas Democrats believe the federal budget surplus should be used to strengthen Social Security."

John WorldPeace believes that the social security system was designed to require citizens of the United States to participate in a economic program that would allow them a minimum amount of money at retirement in order to reduce the long run burden on public and private welfare. Other than that, people should be able to save and plan for retirement as they see fit. John believes that the present level of demands regarding social security is barely adequate and participants should not be allowed to gamble with those funds in an uncertain securities market.

At the same time, John believes that the social security system should move to a program where the funds are absolutely protected from any and all attempts to use those funds for any other governmental purpose. John also believes those funds should be invested in the open economy in the most conservative investment vehicles.
