WorldPeace Day of Peace: January first every
year
* The first "WorldPeace Day of Peace" will be
on January 1, 2001.
Theme of WorldPeace Day of Peace:
WorldPeace
On October 21, 2000, I received a blanket email from John McConnell
(Founder of Earth Day) regarding a Global Call To Action. I looked
at Mr. McConnell's home page (International
Earth Day Site) and asked myself why not designate a
"WorldPeace Day of Peace" based on Mr. McConnell's
"Earth Day" format. So that is what I did.
I unilaterally declared January first of every year to be the
"WorldPeace Day of Peace". I chose January
first because it the first day of the year and because it is a day on which
many people make New Year's Resolutions. It seemed to me that at the
top of everyone's list of resolutions should be a resolution to increase
the peace within the world society.
The theme of the "WorldPeace Day of Peace" is
WorldPeace: no more, no less. One word,
WorldPeace, says it all. Certainly I have
a personal perspective of WorldPeace as does
every other human being on the planet. But it is not my intention to
foist my personal perspective on anyone else.
Therefore, there should be no reason why any individual should not embrace
January first as the "WorldPeace Day of Peace"
and on that day renew a commitment to increase the peace on the planet in
their own personal way.
The nature of the earth and the universe and certainly the nature of human
society is one of diversity. Consequently, since there is not now,
nor has there ever been, nor will there ever be one nation, one race, one
religion or one sex, we must acknowledge that we will never manifest peace
within the human society unless we embrace and tolerate diversity.
Thus my personal signature question:
"How can we manifest peace on earth if we do
not include everyone (all nations, all races, all religions, both sexes)
in our vision of peace?"
So on the first day of January every year in particular and every day of
the year generally, consider that when peace becomes our priority,
WorldPeace will become our reality.
And so it is!
